It was supposed to be an afternoon of excitement as the Department of Public Administration faced off against the Department of Chemistry in their opening game of the Great Ife Football League. The match began with intensity, as the Chemistry team launched a high press right from kickoff, signaling their determination to secure a win by any means necessary. The Public Administration team matched their intensity, leading to a fiercely competitive first half that ended in a goalless draw.
The second half saw Public Administration creating several promising chances, largely through the efforts of their energetic winger, Mubby. Despite his relentless runs and skillful attempts to break through the defense, all efforts ultimately proved abortive, as Chemistry’s defense held firm. Public Administration struggled to convert their opportunities—a performance reminiscent of a certain team from the red half of Manchester.
Chemistry finally broke the deadlock with a clinical strike from their right winger, who capitalized on a defensive lapse on the left side to score with ease.
The game concluded with Chemistry securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory, earning them their first three points of the competition, while Public Administration took their first loss.
