BEYOND BOUNDARIES: BRINGING FRESHERS AND STALITES TOGETHER AT PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION'S FRESHER WEEK

The fun-filled game day hosted by the Department of Public Administration during Freshers Week took place in the wide-open space of the Faculty of Administration's basement on Friday the 1st of December 2023 at 3pm. The event which was initially meant for students in the department of Public Administration, pleasantly surprised us by attracting students from other departments within the Faculty.

The basement became an exciting hub for a FIFA tournament, where students, armed with PlayStation 4 and 5 controllers, engaged in spirited matches. What started as a friendly competition within our department soon expanded, drawing in more players from different parts of the Faculty.

Alongside the digital gaming buzz, there were classic games like Ayo Olopon, Ludo, Whot cards, Table Tennis, and Jenga bricks. The room echoed with laughter and friendly competition, making it easy for students to connect, no matter which department they were from.

The unexpected gathering in this unconventional spot showed how inclusive the event was, welcoming both new and experienced students. It was a day where everyone came together and enjoyed each other's company, creating a sense of togetherness in the basement.

After the excitement downstairs, we moved to the Faculty of Administration Extension for an anticipated movie night featuring "Dark October."

At 6:13, arrival ensued, with encounters involving  the President and the Public Relations Officer. Approximately five minutes later, a substantial influx of freshmen commenced, making their presence known in sizable numbers.

In a playful gesture, the PLO (sammie) orchestrated a game with airtime as its prize tag. Subsequently, Sammie addressed the freshmen, also urged them to be punctual towards their mountaineering scheduled to hold the next day by 7am.

A jovial atmosphere ensued as the librarian and the president engaged in lively photo sessions. Musical interludes followed, leading to a call for settling down by Sammie as the movie was about to begin.

This movie served as a relaxing end to the day, providing a comfortable setting for students to unwind and strengthen the connections made throughout the event.

For stalites , the package consisted of just one item: a department-branded crest. “It’s not just about getting something it’s about getting something useful,” said Oluwatobiloba, a Part 3 student...

From unexpected delays to fiery budget battles, the session had its fair share of drama. Here’s a breakdown of what went down. A Late Start, But We Move Scheduled for 10:00 AM, the sitting didn’t officially kick off until 10:50 AM, thanks to late arrivals and unforeseen hiccups. The sitting, scheduled for 3:00 PM, officially began at 3:54 PM with an opening prayer led by the PLO, followed by a solemn rendition of the Great Ife Anthem. The reading of the last sitting’s minutes by the Clerk of the House marked the formal opening. The motion for adoption was moved by Hon.
