Freshers Connect Over Games and Popcorn-Filled Movie Night

Freshers’ Week for the Department of Public Administration was packed with fun on Wednesday, with two exciting events: a lively Games Day in the afternoon and a cozy Movie Night in the evening.

Games Day: Afternoon of Laughter and Connection

The fun began at 2:00 PM with Games Day, where freshmen and senior students came together to enjoy different games and spend time with each other. Organized by the department’s Executives, the event had something for everyone—ludo, Scrabble, chess, table tennis, and even video games for those who love PlayStation.

The room was full of laughter and cheers as students challenged one another and formed new friendships. The excitement on everyone’s faces showed just how much they enjoyed the activities. For the freshmen, it was a great way to meet new people and feel at home in the department.

“It was so much fun! I got to relax and also meet people I didn’t know before,” one fresher shared.

Movie Night: Relaxing and Enjoyable

After Games Day, everyone was excited to wind down at the Freshers’ Movie Night. Though it started late due to a power outage and some technical problems, things got rolling by 6:52 PM in the Sub TV Room.

The movie "Anyone but You" (2023) was the highlight of the night. It’s a funny and heartwarming romantic comedy about a woman’s search for love. The movie had everyone laughing and fully entertained. Drinks and popcorn made it even more enjoyable, giving the evening a real cinema feel.

Students shared their thoughts after the event:

  • Endurance Godwin (Part 1 student): “The movie night was so lovely! I really liked the drinks and popcorn.”
  • Victoria Omenihu: “Even though it started late, I had a great time. The movie was so funny!”

The Movie Night ended at 8:28 PM, leaving everyone with smiles and great memories.

More Fun Awaits

Wednesday’s events brought students closer and gave everyone a taste of what Freshers’ Week is all about—fun, laughter, and making new connections. There’s still more to look forward to as Freshers’ Week continues, promising even more exciting moments for all.

The reading of the last sitting’s minutes by the Clerk of the House marked the formal opening. The motion for adoption was moved by Hon. Kanmi and seconded by the Speaker, setting the stage for what would become a drama-filled sitting. Audit Committee Under Fire An early flashpoint emerged when only three out of eight members of the Audit Committee were present—a quorum failure that drew immediate concern.
