Five Scenes, One Script: DRAMA’s Masterclass Against NAPAS

The final whistle blew, but for the NAPAS team, it felt like the end had come long before the game started. With no chance of qualifying for the next round, tonight’s match against the Drama Department was meant to be a formality. But for DRAMA, it was a stage to shine, and they played their roles to perfection, delivering five unforgettable scenes. The game began under the fading light at Training Pitch 1, and from the first whistle, DRAMA made their intentions clear. They weren’t here for just another match; they were here to make a statement. By halftime, they had already written the first three acts, each goal showcasing their skill, precision, and hunger. NAPAS tried to hold their ground, but the cracks were all too visible. In the second half, DRAMA came back just as relentless, adding two more goals to the script. For the NAPAS team, it was their heaviest loss of the tournament, a painful reminder of their struggles throughout the group stage. The team had already lost to C...

Embracing a Growth Mindset

by: Mould Precious Imagine unlocking a world where every challenge fuels your growth, every setback sharpens your resolve, and every piece of feedback propels you forward. This is the power of a growth mindset—the belief that abilities and intelligence can be cultivated through dedication, effort, and an unwavering commitment to learning. Psychologist Carol Dweck introduced this transformative concept, redefining how we view success, failure, and the pursuit of excellence. In stark contrast to a fixed mindset, where talents are seen as unchangeable, embracing a growth mindset invites limitless possibilities for both personal and professional fulfillment. At its core, a growth mindset shifts the focus from performance to learning. Imagine seeing challenges not as roadblocks but as stepping stones to sharpen your skills. With this mindset, difficult tasks transform from intimidating to inspiring. Thomas Edison perfectly captured this idea when he famously said, “I have not failed. I’ve j...

Public Administration Learns a New Philosophy in Dramatic Draw

After being “schooled in the art of football” by a team of Chemists, the Public Administration team returned to the field today, determined to show they had learned their lesson. Their second game against Philosophy turned out to be just as dramatic, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. Philosophy started with a bang, scoring an early goal and putting Public Administration under pressure. As if history wanted to repeat itself, Public Administration found themselves in trouble again when a handball gave Philosophy a free kick in a dangerous spot. But this time, they regrouped and hit back with a well-planned move to equalize. Just when it seemed they had found their rhythm, the referee disallowed what would have been a lead goal for Public Administration. The decision sparked frustration, but the team pressed on, and the first half ended 1-1. In the second half, Philosophy nearly took the lead again, but an offside call saved Public Administration. Seizing the moment, they struck ba...

North Korea’s Kim accuses US of using Ukraine to target Russia

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has accused the United States and Western nations of using the Ukrainian military as “shock troops” to fight Russia, warning that such actions could escalate into a global conflict, according to state media on Monday. Seoul and Washington have alleged that nuclear-armed North Korea has deployed more than 10,000 soldiers to assist Russia in its war against Ukraine. Experts suggest Kim is eager to secure advanced Russian technology and combat experience for his troops in return. Pyongyang has denied these allegations, and Kim did not address the claims in his speech to battalion commanders, as reported by the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). Kim stated that the US and its allies are leveraging the Ukraine conflict to “expand the scope of their military interventions globally” and to “enhance their combat experience, with Ukraine being used as shock troops” against Russia. Washington’s ongoing military assistance to Ukraine, he added, raise...

Born in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a South African mother, her journey was marked by controversies and challenges. Her dual heritage became a focal point of debate when she was announced as a finalist, with detractors questioning her eligibility due to unsubstantiated allegations about her mother’s South African citizenship. These claims, fueled by anti-foreigner sentiments—a lingering social issue in South Africa—sparked public outrage. The backlash escalated into personal threats against Chidimma and her family, ultimately forcing her to withdraw from the competition. Her decision highlighted the emotional and psychological toll of xenophobia on its victims. Despite his relentless runs and skillful attempts to break through the defense, all efforts ultimately proved abortive, as Chemistry’s defense held firm.
