The Wait That Hurts More Than Exams: OAU’s Result Delay Problem Unpacked!

By Olayemi Abisola, Adams-Charles Gift At Obafemi Awolowo University, exams are not just a routine— they're a full-blown spiritual, emotional, and physical battle. Once the exam timetable drops, campus transforms. The usually buzzing hostels fall eerily silent, lecture theatres become all-night camps, and TDB (Till Day Break) turns from a meme into a lifestyle. Slippers drag across pavements, eyeballs are sunken, and energy drinks become sacraments. You’ll find students rehearsing definitions in parking lots, debating theories in corridors, and offering desperate prayers like “God of the 11th hour, locate me.” Everything becomes a last-minute hustle to escape academic damnation. Then comes D-Day. The walk to the exam hall feels like a pilgrimage. People hum under their breath, cram furiously in corners, and prepare to face whatever demons the question paper may hold. And when you finally sit, time begins to lie. You blink, and it's "Thirty minutes more!" But here...

3-2 Thriller! Public Admin’s Shocking Victory Sends Warning Before HOD’s Cup!

By Segun Emmanuel Akintunde, Public Voice News Agency As the countdown to the prestigious HOD’s Cup begins, the Part 3 students of the Department of Public Administration—known by their moniker, Class of Hypatios —kicked off their preparations in style with a hard-fought 3–2 victory over their counterparts from the Department of Sociology. The friendly, played yesterday at the School Main Bowl, was anything but casual. Sociology struck first, catching the Administrators cold with an early goal that sent a ripple through the Public Admin bench. But it didn’t take long for the tide to turn. Senior Man , known for his cheeky footwork and unpredictable finishing, delivered what looked like a hopeful cross—only for the ball to curve sharply and nestle into the top corner. Equalizer. Stadium stunned. Match on. The comeback gained momentum when a clumsy challenge on Jubril in the box handed Public Administration a golden opportunity. Young John , calm as ice, stepped up and made no ...

The Election Is Coming; But Are Your Candidates Legit? Attendance Rule Under the Spotlight.

By Public Voice News Agency The recent pre-election period has cast a glaring spotlight on an issue that threatens the integrity of the National Association of Public Administration Students (NAPAS): a significant number of aspiring candidates for executive and parliamentary positions do not meet the constitutionally mandated attendance requirement . According to the NAPAS Constitution, Article V, Section 34, Subsection (II) , every candidate vying for executive offices or seats in the House of Parliament must have attended at least 50% of congressional sittings , except for first-year and new Direct Entry students participating in by-elections. This clause is not a bureaucratic technicality. It is a fundamental safeguard designed to ensure that only dedicated, informed, and engaged members qualify for leadership . Meeting this attendance threshold means a candidate has actively participated in the association’s key decision-making forums, demonstrating commitment, awareness, and a...

AIPAS 6.0 Is for the Registered, Not the Hopeful. Click the Link Before It’s Too Late!

By Public Voice News Agency As the countdown to AIPAS 6.0 narrows, the organizing committee has issued a final call to action for all intending participants: registration is mandatory . According to the directive from the leadership of NAPAS, no registration, no entry. The official registration link is now active: 🔗 https://forms.gle/VSwGgJhKa79UCfde6 In the words of the NAPAS President, “You would have to go back home if you don’t register with the link provided, as provisions will be made only for those who register.” This includes key logistics like identification, feeding, seating, and summit materials. While there will be a limited opportunity for latecomers to register on-site , the window will be narrow and once filled, entry will be strictly denied to any additional arrivals. This is not just about protocol—it’s about precision, planning, and preserving the integrity of a summit that promises to host a network of student leaders, alumni, and seasoned profession...

You Missed the Congress? So Did Your Chance to Influence Anything!

By Public Voice News Agency The recent NAPAS Congressional Sitting concluded amidst a troubling but all-too-familiar reality: quorum was not reached. According to the NAPAS Constitution, Article 10, Section 61 , no fewer than 40 financial members, alongside a presiding officer, must be present to constitute a valid quorum for any congressional sitting. Yet, this clear requirement has persistently slipped into the realm of myth, with quorum becoming an elusive standard rarely met . This recurrence is not a mere procedural footnote. It exposes a deeper, systemic malaise that threatens the very foundation of student governance and democratic participation. NAPASites often voice their frustrations and aspirations for better governance, greater transparency, and meaningful change. But there is an ironic paradox at play: when students choose not to attend political or governance events , they effectively forfeit their ability to witness, question, and influence decisions made in their...

This year, the Annual Ife Public Administration Summit (AIPAS) returns for its sixth edition,  stronger, sharper, and more essential than ever. However, AIPAS 6.0 is not just another summit. Give Students Snacks at AIPAS!’: Welfare Cost-Cutting Sparks Heated Drama at House Sitting

By Wonuola Mould and Akintunde Segun, Public Voice News Agency Strong calls for transparency and fairness marked the recent parliamentary sitting of NAPAS. The latest parliamentary sitting of the National Association of Public Administration Students (NAPAS) was filled with sharp discussions over financial matters and welfare plans for the upcoming AIPAS 6.0 program. Things heated up when the Financial Secretary presented the executive budget report. Hon. Kanmi raised an early concern, asking whether it was right for the Financial Secretary to defend the report and also pointing out that some figures were not clear. As more errors came to light and confusion spread, the Financial Secretary herself requested that the report be suspended. Justice Joel supported the move, citing disorderliness. He and Napasite Pelunmi jointly called for the report to be pushed to the next sitting. The House agreed. The welfare committee of the AIPAS 6.0. later presented its proposed budget of ₦1,509,...

₦320,000 Budget, ‘Okun Ifami’ Bags: What Really Happened to the Freshers' Package.

By Wonuola Mould and Akintunde Segun, Public Voice News Agency Debate erupts over quality, spending, and transparency in freshers’ orientation items. At the most recent parliamentary sitting of the National Association of Public Administration Students (NAPAS), the President's report on the freshers’ package took center stage, with lawmakers raising concerns over quality, spending, and decision-making. The President opened the report by noting that the ₦320,000 originally budgeted for the freshers’ gift had to be reduced to ₦270,000 due to limited funds. He explained that market prices had gone up, but the fee collected from students had not increased. However, this explanation didn’t fully sit well with members of the House. A representative from the Part One constituency questioned the quality of the tote bags given to freshers, asking if the money collected during registration was spent only on the package. The President replied that the registration fee covered all orienta...

Not Worth the Dues? NAPAS Students Decry Package Quality

By Public Voice News Agency What began as a long-anticipated disbursement quickly unraveled into a wave of discontent on Tuesday, May 6th, as members of the National Association of Public Administration Students (NAPAS), Obafemi Awolowo University, expressed deep dissatisfaction over the quality and value of their long-awaited departmental packages. The delay in distribution had already raised eyebrows, with students, especially freshers ,  growing restless after months of waiting. Expectations were high. But when the Financial Secretary, through the Public Relations Officer (PRO), invited students to the Departmental President’s office for collection, the excitement fizzled into frustration. Present at the collection point were the Financial Secretary, the PRO, and the General Secretary. For stalites , the package consisted of just one item: a department-branded crest. “It’s not just about getting something it’s about getting something useful,” said Oluwatobiloba, a Part 3 student...
