Mandatory? Yes. Unmissable? Absolutely. The Conference That’s About to Change the Game Is Here!

 By Public Voice News Agency

The Department of Public Administration, Obafemi Awolowo University, is setting the tone for academic excellence and global intellectual engagement with the launch of its first-ever International Conference,  a historic event poised to reshape how we think about governance, policy, and the future of public administration.

Slated to begin on Monday, May 26th, 2025, this pioneering conference is compulsory for all students of the department, and for good reason. The conference promises to immerse students in the rare atmosphere of cutting-edge discourse, featuring over 120 renowned scholars and technocrats from top universities across Nigeria, Europe, the UK, the USA, South Africa, and West Africa.

In the words of the Head of Department, Prof. T.A., Esq., this conference is not just an event, it’s a “novel idea and agenda-setting” experience that offers students direct access to intellectual giants and accomplished researchers. With lectures designed to stir minds and awaken professional aspirations, the event is set to anchor OAU’s department firmly on the map of global policy discourse.

One such paper already stirring curiosity is titled: “Is Public Administration, like Nature, Eclectic? Conditions and Confluences of Public Policy Studies.” It hints at the kind of high-level reflections that await attendees rich, provocative, and deeply relevant.

To ensure full participation, all class governors have been directed to record attendance at the opening ceremony, while designated lecturers will supervise compliance. Students are expected to appear in formal dress for the opening, a gesture that underscores the conference’s prestige and professional tone.

Those with academic conflicts are instructed to report immediately to the LOC Secretary (Dr. Shiyanbade) through their class governors. No one is to be left behind in what promises to be a once-in-a-generation academic gathering.

Beyond the keynote presentations and panel discussions, this conference offers students unprecedented opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and visibility in the international academic space. As the profession continues to evolve globally, the Department has taken a proactive step in ensuring that its students are not just spectators but active participants in the discourse shaping tomorrow’s public sector.

This is more than a requirement. It’s a call to engage, to grow, and to step boldly into the future of public service.

OAU is not just hosting a conference; it is birthing a tradition.
