A Freshers' Party Like No Other: NAPAS OAU Brings The Gen-Z Experience to Life

On February 6th, the National Public Administration Students (NAPAS) OAU Chapter brought the house down at Awovarsity Hall with an unforgettable Freshers’ Party! It wasn’t just for the freshmen – students from all departments were there, ready to mingle, dance, and experience the ultimate Gen-Z vibe.

The event was a masterstroke in party planning, thanks to the efforts of the department’s Director of Socials (DOS), Samuel Adedugbe (ALPHA), and his dynamic team of executives. The stage was set, and with Ayo Santos at the helm as MC, there was no shortage of fun, energy, and surprises.

Red carpet interviews kicked things off, with our Public Voice reporters asking the freshmen all about their university journeys so far and what they were most excited for that night. The anticipation was high – and rightly so!

The evening unfolded with a thrilling game of “No Shaking.” Participants had to stay frozen after dancing to the beats, and it was as fun to watch as it was to play. Then came the main event – the Mr. and Miss NAPAS contest. This annual tradition saw eight incredible freshmen battle it out for the coveted titles:

  • Fawole Folawe
  • Daniel Ayodeji Eboigbe
  • Olanitori Adetolawe Temiloluwa
  • Bamigboye Omodolapo
  • Moshood Zainab Akanke
  • Hammed Emmanuel Olayinka
  • Daramola Busayomi Gold
  • Tobiloba Faith

The contestants kicked off with a stylish fashion parade, showcasing their personality and flair. With three judges on the panel, the competition was fierce. During this exciting moment, the MC took a break to give special shout-outs to important figures in the house, including the student union's director of socials and His Team
.

The night was packed with talent, as emerging OAU artists like Phalil performed, energizing the crowd even more. There were raffles, a “Flip the Bottle” contest with spaghetti and chicken (yum!), and, of course, plenty of good vibes.

As the night wore on, the DOS took the stage to express his gratitude for everyone who contributed to the success of the party – from sponsors to alumni, and his very own executive team, “Team Remodel.”

The competition grew more intense as the contestants returned for round two, showing off their hidden talents. We had singers, dancers, and even a contestant who shared a heartfelt message for the students. For round three, it was time to show cultural pride, with everyone donning traditional outfits and explaining the significance behind their attire – from a queen to a priest, an Iyalode, and an Igbo man.

When the final round came, the chemistry between the contestants was undeniable. The crowd and judges were on edge, especially when there was a tie for the Miss NAPAS crown. The judges turned to the audience for some rapid-fire questions, and while the answers were amusing, one contestant’s response – a show of character and wit – won the crowd over. And just like that, Moshood Zainab Akanke was crowned Miss NAPAS, and Bamgboye Omodolapo was named Mr. NAPAS.

As the night drew to a close, the DJ kept the beats flowing, and everyone let loose, dancing and laughing until it was time to say goodbye. The Gen-Z experience truly lived up to its name – a night of energy, unity, and unforgettable memories!

Schooled in the Chemistry of Football: Public Administration Fails the First Test.

The match began with intensity, as the Chemistry team launched a high press right from kickoff, signaling their determination to secure a win by any means necessary. The Public Administration team matched their intensity, leading to a fiercely competitive first half that ended in a goalless draw. The second half saw Public Administration creating several promising chances, largely through the efforts of their energetic winger, Mubby. Despite his relentless runs and skillful attempts to break through the defense, all efforts ultimately proved abortive, as Chemistry’s defense held firm. Public Administration struggled to convert their opportunities—a performance reminiscent of a certain team from the red half of Manchester. Chemistry finally broke the deadlock with a clinical strike from their rig...
