Reliability: The Steadfastness of Duty and Loyalty

Reliability can be defined as the quality of being dependable and trustworthy. It is the ability to consistently produce a desired outcome or result and to do so in a timely and consistent manner.

The Public Administration House of Parliament (PAHP) had a parliamentary sitting on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Faculty of Administration Extension building. While the sitting started a little later than stipulated, an apology was tendered by the Speaker of the House.

The sitting started with anticipation in the hearts of Napasites in attendance as the agenda of the sitting seemed due and educational. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case when it came to the first, second, third, and even the fourth agenda for the day.

This evening of unreliability started with the office of the Director of Sports, Gbolahan, who was tasked with presenting a report on the HOD's Cup organized by his office. However, there was a negative outcome as he was unable to present the report due to its unbalanced nature at the time. He was sanctioned to write a letter of apology and pay a fine of ₦2000, but we are yet to receive any report concerning either compliance or noncompliance.

Then came the AIPAS 5.0 Committee Chairman, who claimed to have finished his report on AIPAS 5.0. However, the House had to wait a couple of minutes for him to be ready as he was just concluding the printing of the said document. While the report was submitted, it was not clear enough to be understood by the layman. Hence, it was rejected by the House to be revised for its irregularities and presented on a later date.

The President of NAPAS, Odeyemi Janet, was also called upon to present the select Audit Committee as well as the Electoral Committee. While she had done justice to the Electoral Committee, namely:

1. Ogbebor Emmanuella

2. Adesoyi Funmilayo

3. Adegbiyi Ayokami

4. Odeyemi-Lawrence Richard

5. Egbayi Nofisat Tomisin

6. Gbaremu Azeezat Ayomide

7. Odinakachi Charles Chukwuemeka

the Audit Committee met the same fate as the majority of the agenda for the day: unprepared.

As if all of this wasn't enough, Napasite Emmanuella raised an observation on the poor education and dissemination of information done by the executives regarding the newly inaugurated Faculty of Administration Students Association (FADSA), its organization, and how the election of its executive affected the NAPAS majority.

A group of administrators can do better!
